Meet CHAIR-ity 2018 Artist, Jeannine Robertson

Jeannine was born in Montreal in 1931. She studied at the Musée des Beaux Arts, with Arthur Lismer, G. Weber, and Jacques de Tonnancourt. She has exhibited her paintings and sculpture in solo and group shows throughout Canada and in Europe and the U.S. Her work is in collections worldwide.

See some examples of her work on her facebook page.

For the art auction, Jeannine created: Platonic Chair: Do Not Sit
As she explains,
Plato taught that there was a realm of Forms that stood apart from, yet informed, the sensible world. So, according to Plato, any given chair we encounter is a pale imitation of an ideal chair that typifies the very idea of “chairness.” Though, of course, one cannot sit in it.”

You can pre-view Platonic Chair: Do Not Sit and the other art objects created for the auction at the Marianne van Silfhout Gallery at St Lawrence College April 16-20.

The CHAIR-ity LIVE auction is April 20th at 7pm.
