Ended: Call for Artists: ACOTTI’s first fundraising event!

Artists of music, craft, dance, literature, theatre, media or visual arts are invited to participate in the Arts Council of the Thousand Islands’ inaugural fundraising event: A “CHAIR-ity” AUCTION.

To help raise funds for ACOTTI’s future programming, artists – individually or as a group – will take a “found” chair and re-purpose, recreate, redecorate it into a functional or fanciful “CHAIR-ity” object. Your finished “CHAIR-ity” object will be auctioned off at the live “CHAIR-ity” Auction on Thursday May 18th at the Marianne van Silfhout Gallery at the St. Lawrence College, Brockville Campus.

At this time we are reaching out to our artist community in a call for expressions of interest to participate in and/or volunteer at this event.

The number of “CHAIR-ity” objects accepted for the event is limited, therefore registration is on a first-come, first-served basis!

Why Participate?
As a “CHAIR-ity” artist you will”

  • split the final auction price 50/50 with ACOTTI
  • set a suggested minimum bid for your “CHAIR-ity” object
  • have an artist card attached to your “CHAIR-ity” object to recognize your contribution
  • receive 1 free admission to the event
  • receive media coverage of your participation as a “CHAIR-ity” artist
  • have your “CHAIR-ity” object on display at the Marianne van Silfhout Gallery and the option to display it elsewhere in the community prior to the auction

If you are interested in participating as an artist OR as a volunteer, please complete this Expression of Interest form and return to ACOTTI by February 15, 2017. Any questions, please email us at [email protected]

We look forward to working with you in this venture!

Ended: A Marketing workshop for Artists: February 11, 2017

The Arts Council of the Thousand Islands (ACOTTI) invites its members and the public to attend the next presentation in the series “Arts at Work: support on your artistic journey” at the Front of Yonge Township Library on Saturday February 11 from 9:30am – 12:30pm.

This installment will focus on how to market your art.

ACOTTI welcomes Kim Buckley, fellow member, artist, and Sales & Marketing Professional with The Works Events Canada, to speak on how you can get organized to sell your work.

Marketingit’s not rocket science but sometimes it feels like it should be. I’ve been working in this field for a very long time and it still can overwhelm me. I chalk that up to being a creative” says Buckley.

This session will be a great opportunity for anyone just starting out, or just wanting to get back on track. Kim will help you understand what you need to do to sell. She’ll walk you through some key questions and explain how you can plan ahead, leaving time to do what you love best – your art!

In addition, local photographer Jan Murray will be set up and ready to take photos of you and/or your work at the nominal cost of $10 for four (4) digital images. An incredible opportunity to get that shot you need to promote yourself or your business.

Admission to this event is $10 for members and $15 for non-members.

ACOTTI wishes to remind you that membership is free until May 31, 2017.

ACOTTI members can pick up their membership card and their Brockville Chamber of Commerce membership benefits sticker at the event.
