Meet “CHAIR-ity” Auction Artist: Fraser Radford

Fraser Radford

Fraser holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Art History, with a minor in Religious Studies (2009) from Queen’s University in Kingston, a Fine Arts diploma from St. Lawrence College in Brockville, (2014), and a post-graduate certificate in Studio Process Advancement from the Haliburton School of the Arts (2014). He apprenticed with the prominent Kingston sculptor, Shayne Dark. Fraser’s work has been exhibited across North America, is in private collections throughout as well as the U.K and Australia, and has been published in several magazines including the catalogue The Peace Project produced by Gallery 9 in Culver City, California in 2010.

Jacob Proctor

Jacob grew up outside the small community of Mallorytown, ON, where he attended elementary school. He quickly developed an interest in art and drawing, a passion that has followed him throughout his years of school. Inspiration came from a love for the visuals and styles common in animation and illustration.

Jacob will be graduating from the Creative and Visual Fine Arts program at St Lawrence College in June 2017.

Linda Potter.

“I’m Linda Potter, an enthusiastic quilter and fabric artist with a passion for combining colourful fabrics, incorporating traditional quilt block designs in original ways with a flair for meticulous workmanship, fine detail , and added embellishments…and recycling is always exciting!”

For the “CHAIR-ity” Auction Linda teamed up with potter and visual artist, Jen Gazley, to redesign a set of chairs into art objects titled “FUNKY, FABULOUS, AND FUNCTIONAL”. Catch a preview of these colourful creations until May 6th at the Brockville Public Library, 23 Buell Street, downtown Brockville.

Elaine McCurdie

Elaine McCurdie is an emerging multi-media artist who enjoys drawing, painting, assemblage art, sculpture, photography, and printmaking, and creates with an emphasis on fine detail and realism.  Born and raised in Northern Ontario, Elaine relocated to South-Eastern Ontario to pursue her passion for the arts. Elaine will graduate from St Lawrence College’s Visual and Creative Fine Arts program in June 2017.

Meet the “CHAIR-ity” Auction Artists: Wendy MacLean & Michel Gadoury

Wendy MacLean and Michel Gadoury work as a team, Wendy is an award-winning poet whose work has been in several Canadian anthologies as well as journals in the UK, USA and Japan, She is author of several chapbooks and two books of poetry: Rough Angel/Ange Ecru translated by Michel Gadoury) and Spirit Song in Ancient Boughs. She is the minister at Christ United Church in Lyn. Michel is a bricoleur and volunteer at RESTORE and the Food Bank. He sometimes describes himself as “the toolman”, a poet in wood.

Clayton MacKinnon’s works are inspired from his experiences in the wilderness, blending art and adventure. Clayton works in a variety of mediums including, photography, printmaking, acrylic and oil. Clayton is currently completing his Visual and Creative Fine Arts diploma program at St Lawrence college. After graduation he plans to chase adventure alongside art.

Mitchell Green.

Mitchell Green is a Native American who grew up on the reservation of Akwesasne. He always had interests in art, briefly attended Algonquin College for Introduction to Fine Arts. Mitchell is a current graduate from St. Lawrence College’s Visual and Creative Arts. His interest is in abstract art.

Victoria Gilpin

Victoria is a local artist, author and illustrator who creates in several mediums and art forms such as painting, clay work and mosaics. She holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Education.

Her recent works show a progression in the blend of mosaic, painting, clay and found objects to create unique mixed media art pieces.

For the “CHAIR-ity” Auction Victoria has transformed her chair into a colourful mosaic art piece titled “the Mermaid Chair”. Jaycey Giblin

Jaycey was born in Sudbury, Ontario but spent the majority of her childhood growing up in and around the Ottawa area. Since a very young age, she has had a strong interest in drawing and painting. Recent graduate of the Visual and Creative Arts program of the St. Lawrence College Fine Arts program in Brockville, she hopes to begin a career in the art industry while furthering her education. She works in various mediums and styles, but her main interests are creating illustrations with ink, watercolour and acrylics.
